DESCRIPTION
Hedrick Brothers Construction provided general contracting services for the LEED PLATINUM SWA Waste-to-Energy Visitor Center. A sky bridge connects tour groups from the educational center to the main process building to witness the internal waste-to-energy process. This project is a 9,028 square foot, three-story building with a 1,700 sq ft exhibition area on the first floor. Visitors, including school groups and community and engineering tours, use the Skybridge from the third floor to walk to the Facility’s main process building to observe the Facility control room, waste being delivered, the waste storage pit and waste being handled by the Facility’s three large cranes. The Visitor Center is received LEED Platinum certification. The project team includes KBR, Houston and CDM Smith, Cambridge, MA.
