DESCRIPTION
From 2010 to 2014, Hedrick Brothers Construction transformed a 56 acre, 100,000 square foot existing shuttered community center into Oxbridge Academy of the Palm Beaches, a private college preparatory high school in West Palm Beach, Florida. The phased construction challenges included working on an occupied campus, repurposing the entire existing community building to include building code modifications, mechanical and electrical enhancements, and other refinements to create state-of-the-art learning classrooms, media center facility, science laboratories, photo laboratories, food service facilities, administration offices, locker rooms, weight training rooms, retrofit of existing gymnasium facilities, artificial turf football stadium with natural turf practice fields, and tennis courts. Exterior site work included new landscaping, sidewalks, patios and pool fencing, updating of the existing six tennis courts, and reconfiguration of retention lake.
